Eradicating poverty effectively: Concise, strategic data to tackle the greatest global challenge
The Committee for Development Policy (CDP) is a subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and advises the Council on a wide range of issues that are relevant for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. OPHI Director Sabina Alkire is one of the 24 members nominated by the Secretary General and appointed by ECOSOC for three year terms.
In the first number of the new CDP Brief Series, Sabina Alkire discusses the potential of data to catalyze poverty eradication and explains the importance of multidimensional poverty measures alongside monetary measures. She makes five pragmatic recommendations for the Second World Summit on Social Development (WSSD2) that would empower actors, improve the cost-effectiveness of interventions and make progress visible.
